Emily Sun is a writer, editor, and researcher who has been published in various national and international anthologies and journals including Meanjin, Cordite, Australian Poetry Journal, and Growing up Asian in Australia. 


In 2018 and 2019, she was awarded runner-up in the national Deborah Cass Writing Prize, the recipient of fellowships at KSP and Centre for Stories,  and took part in Fremantle Press’  Emerging Writers Pilot Program. Her debut poetry collection Vociferateč©  (Fremantle Press) was listed as one of the Australian Book Review’s  “Books of the Year”. In 2022, it was awarded a Highly Commended in the NSW Premier’s Literary Award for Poetry, and shortlisted in the WA Premier’s Book Award. 

Emily’s research interests include  Bourdieusian theory, ludic game inquiry, “ethnic author function”, translanguaging, creative teaching,  how AI can be used in classrooms to enhance student learning experiences, and the  intersection of neurodiversity and creativity. 

Emily is currently a PhD candidate at UWA, and the co-editor/publisher of  Hello Keanu! (Momolo Books, 2024).
